Out Of Character Lists

General Rules

Before posting, ask yourself the following question: “Am I making a post which is relevant to the Masquerade Chronicle, on any level?” If you can answer “yes” to this, then please post. If you cannot, then refrain from posting.

Before replying, ask yourself the following question: “Does my reply offer any significant advice or help contribute to the conversation in any fashion?” If you can answer “yes” to this, then please reply. If you cannot, then refrain from replying.

Does my post require the attention of every masquerade player everywhere? If not, post it to a local list. Ask other members directly. Most importantly, ask your local ST. This officer is your first line for all of your needs. Their answers are going to be the most important anyway – better get used to following their lead.

Is there a specific list that my question is suited to? Tremere posts go to the Tremere list. Camarilla posts go to the Camarilla list. When in doubt, the more specific, the better.

Does my post add to the conversation in a meaningful way? “Yeah!”, “Me too!”, and “Good point!” posts may have meaning to you, but remember, this list serves the vast majority of Masquerade players in the Camarilla. Low-content posts just clutter an already very, very busy list.

Posting Rules

  • Low Content Posts: Please do not make posts containing no content (ie, “first post”, “hello, I’m new here”, “lol”, “This”, “Quoted for truth”, etc.).
  • Trolling: If you do not like a thread, then just ignore/mute it and move on; replies consisting solely of trolling fall into this category. As a general rule, write as if you were speaking in real life to another human being. Do not use any catchphrases, memes, internet slang.
  • Offensive Posts: If someone posts something you find offensive, contact them directly and involve their (and your) coordinators if necessary. Posts to the lists that equate to fights or backlash will not be tolerated. The Moderators will also be monitoring for purposefully offensive posts and contacting those members directly. The open list is not the place for disciplinary actions.
  • Humor messages: Please keep funny links, jokes, or other outside media to local lists. If you have a funny reply, and it adds to the conversation in some way, then add it, but only to the specific lists, not to the main Masquerade-OOC list.
  • Looking for Ties: Post these to the specific lists, never to the Main Masquerade OOC lists.
  • Testing?: Do not post to any global Masquerade list to see if the lists are up and do not reply to any “testing”/”ping” posts.
  • Rules: Rules questions and comments go to the Masquerade-Rules list.
  • Threading: If your response does not deal with the thread you are posting in, start another.
  • Personal Info: Do not post others’ personal information (phone number, addresses, emails, etc.).
  • Siglines: Keep your signature area under five lines and refrain from using images. All posts must contain your name (as represented in the CRD) and your current membership number.

Rules Violations

If you break a rule, you will be put on probation as follows:

Probation lasts for six months. You will be assigned the following disciplinary action, in order, for repeated violations of the rules within the same Probation period. Each violation resets your Probation time.

You will be removed from the list for 30 days.
You will be removed from the list for 90 days.
You will be unsubscribed from the list permanently.

If you would like to inquire about a particular moderator decision, we welcome any questions to the AMST Chief of Staff. Please be civil, explain your point, and detail your opinion on it. You may question any mod or admin you like as long as you are not rude about it.
